Provide professional design services, design project management oversight and inter- department coordination for state of good repair (SOGR) for Amtrak station projects nationwide, ensuring the assigned projects are designed in compliance with Amtrak guidelines and federal/state/regional regulatory agencies requirements.


• Develop technical scopes of work to retain professional design services for SOGR projects nationwide, using design consulting firms.
•  Manage the alternative analysis and design effort to support projects.
• Conduct quality control checks and reviewing calculations, designs, specifications and construction documents for accuracy and completeness.
•  Planning and coordinating the work of junior architects or interns and consultants.
•  Collaborate closely with the Engineering, Planning, Environmental, Real Estate and Transportation departments, along with local and state agencies, FRA, and commuter railroads) to determine needs, priorities, and projects.
• Direct 3rd Party consultants' design staff to achieve adherence with Amtrak's Standard
Design Practices.
•  Prepare budget cost estimates and schedules with suggested phasing necessary to support projects.
•  Work with numerous local and national stakeholders on programming, budgeting, scheduling, and providing suitable designs.
•  Self-perform design projects on projects under $100,000 with oversight by Senior
Manager, Stations Engineering.
• Develop Station design standards collaborating with other Amtrak stakeholders.
Perform Professional design review of extemal and third-party design projects that impact or have the potential to impact Amtrak assets.
• Provide mentorship and delegate experience-appropriate tasks to department Interns.
• Support construction of administered design projects by procuring and managing construction phase services.


•  Licensed Registered Architect (RA) or experience in Architecture
•  Demonstrated experience in project and program management
•  Demonstrated experience in Architecture,  minimum
•  Demonstrated experience in design and construction of stations.
•  Demonstrated experience in management and leadership of multi-discipline design projects.
•  Demonstrated managerial experience with consulting pat1y architectural and engineering firms.
• Understanding of ADA regulations and ICC Building Codes
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, collaborative, and relationship building skills with demonstrated experience both within and outside the organization.
•  Must be able to prepare technical reports and effectively communicate verbally and in writing to management and outside agencies.
•  Demonstrated knowledge in Autocad, MS Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project.

•  Master's Degree in Architecture.
•  Familiarity with railroad operations, procedures and construction methods
• Familiarity with large scale architecturally and historically sensitive facilities.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
