The Document Control Specialist is responsible to perform specialized duties involved in processing and maintaining vital records and documents for the System Safety Department. Normal duties consist of cataloging, storage, backup and retrieval of active and archive department documents and records including correspondence, hazard analyses, safety certification records, drawings, specifications and documents required by 49 CFR part 270.

•  Assist in establishing and operating a storage and distribution system to provide copies of records and other technical documents to the system safety department and other interested parties
•  Maintain strict revision control standards on all documents as well as logging correspondence
•  Serve as the department representative for all FOIA inquiries
•  Promote and provide advice regarding Records Information Management (RIM) policies and procedures
•  Update and maintain the records available on the System Safety Intranet Portal


•  Demonstrated office/clerical experience and/or training
•  Compentency with Microsoft Office Programs
•  Demonstrated experience working with business systems of record
•  Ability to work under time constraints to meet deadlines
•  Self-motivated and able to work independently

•  Demonstrated experience/working knowledge of various Amtrak data management business systems including eTrax, Maximo, SAP, Documentum, and SharePoint
•  Railroad industry experience, similar prior transportation or industrial activity experience
•  Familiarity with System Safety principles and nomenclature

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
