As a member of the HR Training & Development team, the Intern will contribute to exciting efforts to grow and strengthen Amtrak’s talent to meet the challenges of tomorrow. We are looking for an individual who possess high energy and thrives in a fast-paced work environment.

The Intern will have exposure to all areas of training and development from conducting needs assessments, design, development and implementation of web-based, On-the-Job (OJT), classroom and blended learning.  The Intern will leverage team expertise, industry best practices and research and academic background to engage in work activities, such as,
•    Designing and developing new and ongoing training and development programs
•    Conducting needs assessments aligning training objectives with overall business goals
•    Developing tools and resources to enhance learner experience
•    Coordinating and planning training department offerings, initiatives, and events
•    Developing and executing a communication plan utilizing internal SharePoint site
•    Identifying metrics for training program success
•    Facilitating and monitoring of key Amtrak training; as examples, front line manager training, presentation skills, customer service training

• Ability to research, collect and analyze data
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to identify challenges/barriers and make recommendations
• Communicate effectively and professionally with key stakeholders

•  This position begins Summer/May 2019


• Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or similar degree

• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
•Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.  
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

•  Available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between the days/hours: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
• Experience in Microsoft Office software suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines
• Must be comfortable performing analysis and preparing summary findings
• Ability to work independently on specific projects
• Experience in developing presentations

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
