Responsible for the maintenance and inspection of Amtrak’s movable bridges (14 in total) to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards, provide safe and reliable infrastructure, minimize movable bridge caused delays to maximize on-time performance, and provide expert advice and direction to division managers and personnel.


Provide technical support to Amtrak Divisions in regard to movable bridge inspection, maintenance, and construction


• Troubleshoot movable bridge problems both on-site and off-site as necessary.
• Develop and provide inspection training
• Provide maintenance plans and specifications as necessary.
• Attend Quarterly Movable Bridge Inspections
• Develop instructions for care and maintenance of movable bridges
• Provide technical expert experience in material requests related to movable bridges.


Oversees the activities of consultants engaged in design, inspection, construction activities on Amtrak movable bridges. Responsible for reviewing calculations, designs, engineering estimates, specifications, construction procedures, and construction schedules. 


• Must have a B.S. Degree in Electro-Mechanical, Mechanical,  Electrical, or Civil Engineering.  
• Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project and AUTOCAD.
• Project management skills and experience.
• Position is also on call 24/7.


• B.S. Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering P.E. License
• Wide experience in various movable bridge systems and movable bridge types:  mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical motors and motor controls from modern day equipment to systems that are 100+ years old.
• Working knowledge and extensive experience in movable bridge inspection, maintenance, design, and construction.

•  Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.


Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated experience in oral and written communications both within and outside an organization.
