SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Responsible for the repair of Talgo rolling stock in accordance with FRA, AAR and Amtrak guidelines, polices and regulations. Involves, but is not limited to installation, operation, maintenance, trouble shooting and repair Talgo cars as directed. Examples include: inbound/ outbound inspection, seating repair, brake shoe replacement, window replacement, pneumatic air brake troubleshooting/repair, exterior and interior carbody maintenance/repair, and wheel/bearing repair/replacement. Maintains qualifications to perform Carmen Tech assignments and other duties as assigned, including a valid drivers license.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Employee will work within the guidelines of Amtrak’s Maintenance of Equipment Employees Safety Rules and Instructions. Remains alert to physical hazards that would be in conflict with a safe operational environment for Amtrak employees and passengers. Welding duties include electric arc, gas, soldering, brazing, heating and cutting of equipment and components.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Must exhibit ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and operational manuals. Must maintain general housekeeping requirements and tool maintenance. Position setting includes exposure to elements including dust, heat, cold, noise and dampness.

Must have visual acuity, including ability to distinguish colors, depth and peripheral motion. Required to push/pull/lift/carry up to 50 lbs of equipment and/or assemblies from racks, stands, benches, lift tables and/or carts (frequent bending or stooping). 
Must have 2 years electro/mechanical machine experience
 
PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Must be physically able to perform the above duties. Must be able to work from written assignment sheets and sign-off work completed on printed forms.
 
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Welding certifications(s)

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

This position requires candidates to complete and satisfactorily pass a physical capacity assessment. Additionally you may be required to pass various technical and/or cultural fit assessments relevant to this position.
