SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Assistant Division Engineer directs the resources of the Division Engineer and has the overall responsibility for all building and bridges-related maintenance and capital improvement activities on the South end of the Mid-Atlantic Division.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Responsible for the construction and related material on major capital improvement projects.
• Assists the Deputy Division Engineer in the preparation of plans for Structures improvements as required.
• Responsible for the maintenance of all B&B facilities on the division.
• In conjunction with the division engineer, shares overall responsibility for all Structures improvement projects.
• Provide technical expertise to ensure all work performed meets Amtrak and industry guidelines and standards.
• Responsible for the construction and related material on major capital improvement projects.
• Assists the Deputy Division Engineer in the preparation of plans for Structures improvements as required.
• Responsible for the maintenance of all B&B facilities on the division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelors Degree Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
• Demonstrated management experience working within the Engineering Department.
• Sr. management, project management, inventory management, technical supervision, effective communication, administration.
• Planning/scheduling, budget/finance, field production methods, RR maintenance and construction methods, RR operations and procedures, spreadsheets.
• Effective writing, effective presentations, conducting meetings, conducting interviews, supervisory skills
• Must be computer literate

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Working knowledge of the Structures Department
• PE, Professional Engineer
• Advanced management and leadership, interpersonal communications, handling employee injuries, conducting investigations, PPE.

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
