SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Director, Corporate Finance, Treasury is responsible for: issuance, refinancing, renewal and management of Amtrak's credit facilities, loans and capital leases; managing relationships with lenders and rating agencies; designing and implementing strategies to hedge diesel fuel prices; and providing financial analysis and recommendations for financial and real estate transactions. Additional responsibilities include forecasting debt service and interest expense, covenant compliance and lease vs buy analysis.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Director, Corporate Finance, leads the company's efforts for the following:

  • Issuance, refinancing or renewal of Amtrak's credit facilities and debt, including capital leases and loans;
  • Manage Amtrak's debt portfolio, including forecasting debt payments and principal balances, making debt payments, and ensuring compliance with debt covenants;
  • Manage relationships with Amtrak's lenders, rating agencies and other stakeholders and support senior management in such endeavors;
  • Design and execute strategies to hedge Amtrak's diesel fuel, interest rate or foreign exchange risk, if needed.
  • Work with others at Amtrak on leases for rolling stock to ensure compliance with agreements, and management of fleet issues.
  • Provide financial analysis and advice to management, other finance groups, and other areas of Amtrak.
  • Provide support to Assistant Treasurer on funding and investment for defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans.
  • Provide backup and support to Senior Manager, Cash Management and Investments for investment in cash equivalents and short-term fixed income securities.
  • Manage or support the sale of assets, if needed.

 

MININUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education

  • Bachelors degree
  • MBA in Finance or Accounting

 

Experience

  • 12+ years of relevant experience of which 8 years should be in the Treasury Department of a Fortune 500 company, preferred, or in a financial institution
  • Hands-on experience issuing debt
  • Extensive financial analysis and modeling
  • Demonstrated success in leadership and negotiation of financial transactions

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Proven management and leadership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Mastery of Excel, Access and Word
  • High ethical standards

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
