SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Graphic Design Intern will assist in translating data and information into powerful visuals and drive communication in both reports and other office messaging channels (website landing pages, social media platforms, etc.). The Graphic Design Intern will also help design and publish content for a variety of other external products (e.g., special publications, outreach materials) and internal communications (e.g., digital signage, intranet products). In all work, the Graphic Design Intern will help ensure that designs follow and extend our branding guidelines.

Essential Functions:
•    Design and publish content for reports, social media platforms, outreach materials, digital signage, intranet products, and a variety of other internal and external communications. 
•    Design layouts and produce graphic designs for special projects as requested by office and OIG leadership.
•    Translate complex data and technical text into informative, easy-to-understand visuals (graphics, charts, etc.) and infographics. 
•    Assist in the maintenance of all aspects of the OIG web site. 
•    Attend staff and committee meetings in order to help implement effective branding, communication, and marketing strategies.
•    Perform a wide range of illustration assignments in the preparation of infographics, charts, graphs, handbooks, manuals, brochures and other similar materials. May be provided copy and required to independently develop illustrations within narrow time limits.
•    Interview project proponents who review and identify acceptability of work results.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•    Must be currently enrolled as a full or part-time Junior or Senior undergraduate or a graduate student working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Business, Information Technology, Media Communications or other related field.
•    Applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher (“B” or better) out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on their official transcript
•    Must have 0-2 years of graphic design experience, in both digital and print media


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

 

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
•    Preferred major in graphic design, art, branding, or related fields, as either a graduate or undergraduate student.
•    Animation and web design skills.
