Amtrak’s IT department is seeking an Intern Reporting/Financial Analyst to support the Passenger Information Display System (PIDS) Program. This resource will be responsible for program level reporting, document management, financial management, and project coordination.


Amtrak is currently deploying PIDS to stations nationwide. Program/project activities include station design, deployment, commissioning, operation and maintenance.

• Participate with Senior Program Manager to discuss strategy, financials, procurement, schedules and other program level initiatives.
• Review the Business Case for each Fiscal year with the Senior Program Manager and Reporting Analyst for revision and submission.
• Create the first drafts of Statement of Work for design, deployment, commissioning, and construction Management which goes out to vendors and starts the procurement process.
• Review proposals from vendors along with the Project Managers and Senior Program Manager.
• Draft meeting minutes for the weekly PIDS Procurement meeting.
• Create the Project Status Report which is used to report used to report the project health on a monthly basis.
• Create the Weekly Status Report which is used to report PIDS progress to IT management and leadership.
• Create the Bi-Weekly Report for the Federal Railroad Administration and ADA Executive Oversight Committee which provides financial, schedule, and status information on a bi-weekly basis.
• Oversee the invoice process, approve and ensure invoices are paid, manage the process from inception to final payment.
• Oversee the Requisition/ PO process to ensure POs are created correctly.
• Other duties as assigned.

Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Financial Management, Program Management, Information Technology, Transportation, or other related degree

• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
• Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum. 
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

•  Available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between the days/hours: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
• Strong analytical and financial analysis skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills.
• Ability to collaborate, develop and maintain excellent working relationships at all organizational levels with internal and external stakeholders.
• Skilled in Microsoft SharePoint, Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
