As a member of the Cyber Security Operations / Program Management team, the Intern will contribute to Security of Information Assets of Amtrak. The Intern will leverage team expertise, industry best practices and research, and academic background to engage in work activities

• Support with governance of critical IT disciplines.
• Assists in the development of Standard Operating Manuals for different process.
• Monitor Cyber security anomalies, investigate, resolve and escalate Cyber Security events, incidents and problems.
• Promotes an understanding of IT Security Management roles, processes and activities to business units and IT departments. 
• Search for potential vulnerability, exploit, or “0” Day based on the user behavior, Endpoint threat detection, Network behavior analytics, artificial engine alarms and managed security reports.
• Review Firewall, IDS/IPS logs, web content filtering logs, net flow device logs, anti-virus logs.
• Support with IT Security tools (SIEM, EDR, CASB etc.) administration. 
• Periodically check for company policy violation / Support the investigation on policy violation.
• Assisting in the implementation of enterprise-wide security standards, procedures and guidelines.
• Assisting in the evaluation and recommendation of hardware and software systems that provide security functions.
• Support with vulnerability and risk analysis reports using commercial tools or custom scripts and documenting gaps.
• Assisting in security audits and inspecting security logs to uncover possible security violations.
• Checking existing accounts and data access permission requests against documented authorizations.
• Guide users on the usage and administration of security tools that control and monitor information security.
• Generating, gathering, and tracking security metrics, developing scorecards for the metrics, and communicating the results Supports and participates in formal reporting related to IT Operations.
• Research, collect and analyze data.
• Identify challenges/barriers and make recommendations.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with key stakeholders.

Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Cyber Security, Information Security, or Information Assurance or similar degree.

• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
• Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum. 
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Experience in Microsoft Office software suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently on specific tasks.
• Some experience in monitoring, investigating, and solving IT security related concerns in a timely manner.
• Working knowledge within IT operations and/or Service Management functions. 
• Must possess excellent customer service, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and work well with others in an integrated team environment.
• Knowledgeable of reporting towards KPI's and industry best practices / benchmarks.
• Good analytical skills.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
