We are looking for a Social Media Intern to work with our Social Content team to help develop amazing content for our social channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.  The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the major social channels and how they work along with a strong creative sense and desire to work with a team to engage our audience.

• Daily social media reporting: Utilize our social listening software to report on trending topics and conversations regarding Amtrak

  • Own the daily social media summary email sent out to various departments
  • Provide a daily internal social listening report to the Social Media Department  

• Editorial calendar maintenance: daily review and update of Amtrak's social media editorial calendar
• Schedule content: utilize our social media management software to schedule future posts 
• Content Audit: overview and scrub of various content libraries and social platforms, including -

  • Instagram: Flagging our best content to be repurposed for Facebook and Twitter
  • CANTO: review and organize our image library
  •  Amtrak Blog: updating outdated information, broken links, general formatting, SEO edits, etc.

This position begins Summer/May 2019


• Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications or Marketing at an accredited educational institution 


• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
• Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between the days/hours: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p


Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
