SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Participation in the execution of Amtrak's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, which includes the annual risk assessment, documentation of processes, risk and controls; and internal control testing and remediation.

 

Participation in audit liaison activities between the Amtrak Office of the Inspector General (OIG), other external examination/audit authorities and management.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Execution of the internal control test plan including development of test plans and testing
  • Assist management in developing appropriate action plans in response to control improvement opportunities (CIO)
  • Update the status of CIOs, from internal and external sources, i.e. action plan, progress status and completion date
  • Assist with the execution of the ERM program including documentation of all related risk and control components
  • Participate in audit liaison activities including entrance and exit meetings, the audit response process and updating CIO status reports
  • Participate in special projects as needed, i.e. targeted control reviews
  • Participate in ad-hoc meetings to discuss and address issues related to corporate risks and the internal control environment.
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate and timely responses to various ad-hoc requests
  • Maintain effective working relationships with business partners
  • Assist with updating Amtrak policies maintained by the Risk and Controls team, i.e. Enterprise Risk Management policy
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the processes, tools and systems used in the ERM proqram and internal control test plan


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 8 years of external or internal experience in audit, compliance or risk management
  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor or equivalent; or candidate for certification
  • Experience with a risk-based audit approach

 

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in the transportation or a customer facing industry
  • Experience interacting with regulatory or oversight agencies
  • Familiarity with risk management and control best practices (i.e. "three lines of defense" model)
  • SOX or internal audit experience

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of COSO, COBIT or other internal control or risk frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to have a positive interaction with management and work across departmental lines
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an organized fashion with attention to details


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
