The Lead Technologist is an expert/lead technical role.  Works on one or more projects as the technology subject matter expert or technical leader/consultant. When involved with a project team, acts in a consultative manner and typically does not provide administrative or management type of support. Works on the most complex tasks, projects and support issues that involve a high degree of risk, impacts business unit performance and makes use of the individual's high level of knowledge within one or more areas of specialty.


• Researches and analyzes complex technologies within area of required expertise.
• Assesses emerging technologies.  Evaluates and may recommend new products or tools for the organization.  Assist in
cost-benefit and risk analysis.
• Makes recommendations and influences long-term technology strategy and planning for multiple business units.
• Assists in the development and analysis of source selection strategies.
• Works with service providers to ensure that their in-scope technical solutions are consistent with the enterprise
business strategy and architecture.
• Serves as a consultant and escalation point for issues.  Provides project managers with technical consultation and
advice, enabling quick response to inquiries related to the program/project.
• Provides technical analyses to help define, assess, and monitor the technical aspects of the program/project or
• Designs inovative solutions using new technologies.  Recommends short-term alternatives when appropriate.
• Support of ForgeRock OpenIDM system including Patching, upgrades and maintenance. 
• On-Call productions support is required for this role.
• Provide reports and users analysis upon request.
• Support of the User Access and Privileged Access review processes
• Develop and implement User Access policies and procedures
• Working knowledge of MS SQL Server
• End user support experience.  
• Must be able to provide Professional level documentation.
• Understanding of Active Directory and LDAP.
• Lead troubleshooting of existing information systems or networks to identify errors or deficiencies.  Brainstorms
possible solutions and evaluates alternatives against decision criteria.
• May lead team responsible for the resolution of support issues escalated by senior operations, development
personnel or service provider personnel.  Works with vendors during the problem resolution process as needed.
• Provides technical expertise across business functions. Identifies opportunities to improve business processes via
new technologies.
• Provides support for Pricilple Technologist's representation of Amtrak relevant, industry forums.
• Primary Support for WIMS system
• Support person for WIMS interfaces to backend systems
• Report developer for WIMS systems
• Server administrator for WIMS 


• Seven to ten years of erelevant technical experience.
• Experience supporting an Enterprise Identity Management system like ForgeRock OpenIDM
• Must have working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems including Red Hat.
• Experience managing an Incident queue.
• Experience with change management.
• Experience performing a User Access Review.
• Relevant Engineering Certifications
• .net programming experience
• SSRS report experience 
• Chrystal Reports Experience
• SFTP experience


• Understanding of Shell Scripts and PowerShell
• Ability to read and understand Java scripts.
• Experience with SAP systems and interfaces.  
• .net development experience
• SSRS experience


• Masters degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent.
• ITIL Certification (or equivelant)
• Training or Certification in ForgeRock suite or equivalent system
• Red Hat Certified


• Requires on-call status
• After hours and periodic shift work may occasionally be required  


Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
