SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position directs the development, implementation, and analysis of research projects concerning customers of Amtrak trains and services as well as the travel market at large.  This position involves management of all phases of qualitative (focus groups, mini-groups, triads, dyads, in-depth interviews, etc.) and quantitative (survey) research projects to support strategic product development and marketing/advertising efforts at a national level.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Direct qualitative and quantitative market research projects to benchmark and support service quality initiatives for all Amtrak trains;
• Direct market research efforts to support strategic investments and tactical/transportation planning initiatives for Amtrak trains nationwide;
• Manage market research projects to deliver insightful and actionable recommendations to guide effective marketing, communications, and product development initiatives to increase ridership and ticket revenues;
• Monitor consumer/marketplace trends to support service development and marketing efforts;
• Manage vendors to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget;
• Manage internal databases to support market research projects, direct mail initiatives, and ad hoc queries.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Strong qualitative and quantitative market research experience e.g., focus groups, advertising research, segmentation research, brand tracking studies, conjoint research, etc.
• Market research project management experience;
• Experience with managing large databases;
• Transportation and/or Marketing experience.

 

PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
• Extensive market research experience;
• Extensive project management experience.

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION:
• Master’s Degree in Marketing, Mathematics/Statistics or a related field
