SUMMARY:
Provide SAP HR technical and functional expertise in order to plan, install and deploy new SAP functionality and/or enhance existing applications. This position works closely with IT and plays a crucial role in delivering HCM customer-centric technology solutions to the organization. In addition, this role supports the Amtrak HR Technology team with maintaining the SAP HCM system, project management, end-user communications, planning, training and end user support.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide SAP HR technical and functional support and maintenance.  This position works closely with IT and plays a crucial role in delivering HCM customer-centric technology solutions to the organization. In addition, this position supports Amtrak HR to ensure data integrity, testing of system changes, report writing and analyzing data flows for best practices and process improvement. 

The HR Technology Analyst requires wide range of skills and knowledge of the SAP ECC, Successfactors, technologies used, and applications supported by Amtrak. This includes one or several SAP products, such as SAP Business Suite (Human Resource, Time and attendance and Payroll), and SuccessFactors.

 

  • Leads HR SAP projects often including a cross-functional team in order to enhance existing applications or install new ones to support the delivery of HR services and/or upgrade the company’s employee management information system. 
  • Assist HR Technology leadership team in partnering with IT, Payroll and Finance technology liaisons to discuss and resolve employee master data requirements necessary to execute changes to Payroll and/or Financial applications.
  • Works with HR partners, IT and client organizations to develop rollout plans for the deployment of new SAP functionalities.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of SAP applications in supporting the organization’s business needs and recommends alternatives where necessary.
  • Works with clients to assess, and determine their data needs and advises and/or assist clients with development of business workflow processes associated with utilizing SAP HR applications, including coordination with teams, developing test plans and implementation strategy.
  • Implements and coordinates business process changes, data accuracy audits and end user training.
  • Coordinates the development of training programs that support end users in the use of employee master data and reporting.
  • Serves as an advisor in regards to change management practices and understands knowledge transfer and communication techniques to help drive a change management focus among SAP users and management.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of non-SAP/ad hoc systems in relation to the capability of SAP HR systems in order to ensure that Amtrak’s ROI is being maximized. Works with clients (and IT) to ensure that ad-hoc human resources systems are properly implemented, including development of documentation, training and/or tools required for maximum utilization. 
  • Seeks ways to regularly enhance user community understanding of SAP and other people management technology applications. 
  • Stays abreast of HR technology best practices as well as emerging trends.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Coordinates the development of training programs that support end users in the use of employee master data and reporting.
  • Serves as an advisor in regards to change management practices and understands knowledge transfer and communication techniques to help drive a change management focus among SAP users and management.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of non-SAP/ad hoc systems in relation to the capability of SAP HR systems in order to ensure that Amtrak’s ROI is being maximized.   • The primary role is to become SME in Hire to Retire organization. He/she establishes detailed application designs and develop (including design patterns/frameworks) consistent with Amtrak’s Enterprise Architecture and ensuring alignment of developed software with designs.

  • Has experience in all aspects of SAP HCM (OM, PA, benefit) and SuccessFactors (Performance/Goal management, succession planning, Learning, compensation, Recruiting and onboarding) modules 
  • Has experience in Payroll Gross-to-Net US payroll (Master Data, Earnings, Cumulations, Deductions and Garnishments etc.), US Benefits, Retroactive payroll accounting, Claims and Overpayments, Off-cycle Payrolls, Post payroll processes including FI Posting, Third Party Remittances, Bank Transfers and Reconciliation.
  • Has excellent knowledge of SAP Payroll Schema and Rules including embedding custom functions and rules.
  • Has experience on Time Management i.e. Work Schedule Rules, Absence/Attendance management, Quota generation, CATS, Time Evaluation, Time schema and rules customization.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires 7+ years relevant experience and a BS/BA degree in a related field; or the combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position.
  • Demonstrates a strong planning focus and has an ability to establish and maintain stakeholder relationships. . 
  • Problem-solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously are essential.
  • Skilled in understanding how to translate HR policy, union agreements and other new employee programs into system requirements needed to implement such changes in SAP.
  • An expert knowledge of SAP FI and HCMS applications/products and/or experience with other HR ERP systems; experience with personal computer applications (MS Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating the change management process. 
  • Able to apply problem resolution skills to effectively address technology related business issues; able to apply ROI approach to new technology enhancements.
  • Requires ability to communicate with technical and non-technical users.
  • Experience with coordinating and facilitating application training to the user community.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and report writing.
  • Knowledge of general HR practices preferred
