SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Product Development & Customer Experience lead (PD&CX) is responsible for analyzing and determining feasibility of new products or making changes to existing products.  In addition, the Lead is responsible for assisting translating strategies into actionable plans to support business needs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review published research reports to identify gaps in the market that products could meet
  • Analyze our own products and those of competitors, comparing performance and features with current market requirements
  • Identify and monitor sources of information on competitors
  • Monitor social networks and product review sites provides information on customers’ attitudes towards competitors and their products
  • Monitor competitors’ advertising and marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate with the PD&CX leadership team to identify new PD&CX products and services that are streamlined and aligned to Amtrak’s commercial, marketing and branding efforts. 
  • Anticipate customer demands for new PD&CX products and services; understanding the business strategy’s impact on the team and helping to define the PD&CX services to create/ deliver
  • Highlight features that achieve high ratings on product review sites or social networks to help identify priorities for product management
  • Must have experience and aptitude to do detailed data analysis for various tasks
  • Analyze new projects to determine feasibility of project from a revenue and/or ridership standpoint.
  • Must have strong data analytic skills
  • Must have an eye for a design to be able to propose new ideas related to station signage, F&B, and/or uniforms.


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires at least 8 years of business or strategic planning experience demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all essential functions
  • Strong knowledge of strategic transformations 
  • Proven experience in product lifecycle and acquisition, including writing statement of work, disposal plans, schedules, and cost estimate.


PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Transportation industry experience
  • Customer Food and Beverage experience


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must understand procurement processes, data analytics, and ROI calculations.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and complex problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to create drafts of management level presentations.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, motivational and team building skills.
  • Self-starter who initiates actions and follows up to get results; conscientious with consistent attention to detail and quality. 
  • Skilled in PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: 
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
