The Senior Director of IT (Human Resources / 'Hire to Retire'), is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance, implementation, integration, and utilization of Amtrak's SAP enterprise systems to help achieve current and future business needs. Researches and develops HCM technology business proposals and evaluates and recommends new technology applications or enhancements. Critical to this individual's success is his/her ability to establish strategic relationships with IT and Amtrak's SAP user community to help clients understand and effectively utilize SAP. Provides technology guidance and/or instruction to clients that have separate, ad-hoc employee data systems. Responsible for developing and managing a Human Capital technology team at the corporate level. The Sr Director IT is responsible for the overall analysis, intake, review, submission, and governance of all HR technology supporting 23 Union agreements, management personnel, and employee population of 20,000+. Will be the Service Owner of Amtrak’s Human Resource Technology footprint and systems and Payroll systems (Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Employee Master, etc). Leads the development of the technology roadmap in partnership with all aspects of IT seeking optimal cost and delivery options for Capital and Operating Investments. Ability to organize and present executive-level reports, proposals, and other related information. Effectiveness working diplomatically cross teams with varying objectives. In collaboration with the business and IT develops/improves business processes.




- Proven knowledge of IT infrastructure, architecture, applications development and support, networks, and computer operations.

- Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders.

- Understand and influence future-state business models so as to practically apply new and emerging technologies to drive it.

- Construct technology-enabled operating models, and provide viable options and visibility into execution issues.

- Experience with driving process improvement, reducing ticket volume, developing self-service options and platform stabilization.

- Requires Bachelor’s degree plus 15 or more years of relevant technical and business management experience

- Experience working in Agile environment using SCRUM methodologies

- Competent with Microsoft Project, Visio, and Office software

- In-depth understanding of customer management and negotiation

- Ability to deliver on time, budget and scope

- Ability to drive capitalization and opex balance.

- Also require SAP HCM/ECC experience, Success Factors experience, & Kronos Timekeeping experience.

- Union HR and Payroll experience, Technology Rail Experience, & HANA planning and transition experience are all preferred.




Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
