Position Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for the collection, posting, design and maintenance of all types of online content for Amtrak’s website utilizing established design standards. The candidate will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and content owners to plan, create and implement changes to designs on the website.  The candidate will execute a consistent creative vision from concept to production with a focus on creating intuitive and streamlined customer experiences. The candidate will work with customer experience, content publishing, and UI/UX and visual design teams to fulfill the communication and functionality needs of our business partners.


Essential Functions:

• Responsible for designing and developing web pages that meet the business needs while maintaining compatibility with Amtrak brand standards and existing site templates and layout components
• Develops, implements and adheres to website and digital asset maintenance policies and procedures to ensure site accuracy and timeliness
• Designs website related layouts, imagery and graphical elements (wireframes, design concepts, icons, charts, diagrams, navigational symbols)
• Administers overall and day-to-day web presence and coordinates regular content updates
• Creates and publishes page layouts using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
• Works closely with the website Publisher to manage and update content
• Supports stakeholder organizations by posting promotions, policy and marketing content
• Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
• Research, enhance and optimize photography for use on promotional content pages
• Optimize graphical elements for the web
• Develop website page layouts with a customer-centric focus
• Work on small teams and wear multiple hats


Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience using content management systems, preferably Adobe Experience Manager
• Strong foundation and experience in design, layout, typography and customer experience
• Strong knowledge of e-commerce website interface and GUI design
• Strong working knowledge of image optimization and graphical file formats
• Ability to follow existing creative direction on projects as well as develop new creative ideas
• Understanding of best practices in graphic and web design, and website usability and accessibility
• Functional understanding of HTML, CSS and designing for content management systems
• Knowledgeable about web and mobile best practices, browser differences and cross platform standards
• Detail-oriented and highly developed organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and other design prototyping tools
• Familiar with industry design standards, best practices, technologies, tools and trends (responsive design, interaction design, etc.)
• Passion for emerging technology and hunger to innovate
• Background in website writing and editing a plus
• Effectively prioritize and execute tasks on short deadlines
• Strong time and project management skills with ability to multi-task
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Graphic Design or related field
• Five or more years of relevant experience


Minimum KSA's:

• Thorough knowledge of website production
• Strong knowledge of web standards
• Strong background in website writing and editing
• Working knowledge of all types of internet browsers


Preferred Skills:

• Demonstrated visual design experience delivering high-volume, high-profile or award-winning e-commerce websites or products; experience in web design, branding and marketing
• Demonstrated experience using content management systems and understanding of page, asset and content structure
• Experience in travel industry


Work Environment:

           • Typical office environment.

           • Works in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, time sensitive environment with frequently changing priorities
           • Occasionally required to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and set up equipment
           • Occasionally required to travel (less than 5%)
