SUMMARY OF DUTIES:


Have a desire to learn the internal workings of an HR operation? As an Intern at Amtrak, you will learn the foundational principles in human resources operations, customer service, project management and related HR functions. You will work under close supervision of the HR Business Services leadership and in collaboration with key partners in areas such as: Information Technology, Payroll and Operations.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


 Individuals in this role use strong communication, time management and analytical skills to: 

  •  Support internal reporting and data collection
  •  Leverage various tools and technology to analyze data and identify trends
  •  Perform root cause analysis and propose recommendations 
  •  Support the leadership team with reporting and summarizing HR transactional data
  •  Complete audits and quality analysis of HR transactions and inquiries
  •  Assist in the review and development of desktop procedures and job aids
  •  Initiate process improvements based on data outcomes
  •  Coordinate tasks in support of small projects and events  


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  •   Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  •   Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Management, Business Analytics, Operations Management, Data Science, Applied Science,  Human Resources or related field.
  •   Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  •   Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher 
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between the days/hours of Monday – Friday, 8am –   5pm.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Strong MS Excel experience (including VLookup, Pivots, Dashboards)
  • Previous call center or operations experience
  • Some administrative experience in an office setting.  
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week between Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM


COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: 


Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

This position will begin in Summer 2020.
