SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Co-op – Analytics and Information Management is responsible for the analysis, design, development, integration, enhancement, deployment and support for technical solutions that address business needs. The position requires collaborating with the larger team to enhance Amtrak’s analytics and data platforms and applications. The resource will use analytics tools and methodologies to supplement and improve the analytics platform.

The resource works with team members to understand the business requirements, analyzes and designs quality technical solutions, driving analytics maturity toward predictive and prescriptive goals. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and in compliance with the organization’s architectural standards.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Partner through the analytics lifecycle providing technical capabilities to business stakeholders, architects and team members.
• Synthesize structured and unstructured data to deliver insights into business performance and solve business challenges.
• Source, analyze, transform, cleanse, aggregate and enrich high volume, velocity and varied data sets to drive business insights.
• Perform statistical analysis, develop methodologies and analytical approaches to drive Machine Learning.
• Implement predictive models and prescriptive solutions by analyzing Big Data sources to improve business performance and mitigate risk.
• Deliver reports and visualizations for projects to drive business decisions.
• Develop and automate sophisticated queries on large datasets.
• Organize and document technical requirements and create technical design specifications.
• Works on projects that may span a broad range of systems requiring expertise in multiple technical environments and relevant business knowledge.
• Deploy new modules, upgrades and fixes.
• Make modules production¬ ready by testing, following deployment procedures, etc.
• Develop reports and presentations to articulate project deliverables.
• The role will have the opportunity to work with Big Data, Cloud Services, Data Science, Reporting and Visualization capabilities to solve business needs.

EDUCATION:
Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate degree in IT, Analytics, Information Management, or other related field 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
• Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum. 
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Experience with or keen interest in Analytics and Information management

•  Available to work a minimum of 30 hours per week between the days/hours: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p


PREFERRED QUALITIFICATIONS:
Experience working with Analytics and Information Management.


COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
