SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Assists the Director, Administration & Public Affairs in the support of business, technology, public affairs, and general administrative functions of the Amtrak Police Department. 

 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assists with coordination of a wide-range of administrative functions in support of a 500+ member railroad policing operation.
• Assists with research, development, and implementation of projects on topics ranging from information technology, hardware and software to law-enforcement business operations support and services.  
• Presents research results on a variety of administration functions using computer programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
• Organizes and maintains project management files and completes documentation when necessary.
• Assists with creating and maintaining standard operating procedures, instructional materials, and presentations. 
• Assists in the development of public affairs materials ranging from flyers to video productions.
• Performs other duties as required.

• This position begins Spring/January 2019

 

EDUCATION:
• Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution. 
• Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between the days/hours: Monday-Friday, 8a-5p
• Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office.  
• Skills in conveying information and ideas in a variety of media to a varied audience in a clear and compelling manner.


COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
