SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Manager will develop and maintain relationships with assigned departments, establish timely review of current financial performance,and analayze cost control opportunites. Perform ad hoc financial modeling and analysis as requested by management and make recommendations based upon the results. Furthermore, this postion will support the preparation of the annual operating and capital plans; momitor and forecast monthly expenditures; compile routine periodic reports that show and measure the performance of projects and departments. This position is expected to serve as a positive to Amtrak's departments and an atmosphere of teamwork and continous improvement. Above all the manager must fulfill the needs of Amtrak in a manner which is consistent with the Amtrak's core values.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assist in managing of the annual budget, 5 year business plan and legidlative request document from preparatio to filing.
Assist in preparation, review and ongoing monitoring f budgets, forecasts, strategic plans and other financial data to assist management with current and long planning. 
Routinely communicate with Amtrak departments regarding financial performance trends, historical and forecasted, usng appropriate variance analysis. Suggest trends, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications.
Prepare impactful presentations and deliverables in support of executive level management, the Board, congress, FRA, and any other pertinent constituent.
Assist with indenifying and analyzing new ways to understand profitability.
Assist with a myriad of ad hoc projects ranging in scope.
Suport the strategic financial planning and analysis process.

 

EDUCATION:

Must possess a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or business related field, or an equivalent combination of education, work experience and traning.


WORK EXPERIENCE:
Experience using Enterprose Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Demontraed skills using PC-based spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel, Access); Microsoft Word, PowerPoint.
Expereince in the creation and gathering of documentation to support results and calculations.
Demonstrated ablity tot work effectively within a cross-functional teamwork enviroments.
Provide excellent customer service.


PREFERRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Ability to multi-task and work as a team, either as a leader or participant.
Experience in Financial Analysis.
Experience with SAP and analysis tools such as SAP BPC or Hyperion.
Demonstrated an ability to manage others towards the sucessful completion of goals or assignments without direct authority.
Knowledge of railroads or other transportation industries.
