SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This finance group supports Amtrak’s Engineering Department. This position is based in Philadelphia, PA and supports the Budget and Planning Manager position in all financial management functions related Reporting, Forecasting, and Planning. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • 80 % - Financial Management and Budgeting
    • This position will prepare are P&L reporting packages, perform monthly forecasts and annual business plans related to specific engineering departments. Create operating expense headcount reports, conduct accounting research, provide detailed GL account analysis. Support the accrual process, perform Journal entries and manage other ad hoc expense related management projects.
  • 20% - Support
    • Develop relations with specific Engineering departments.
    • Develop and Present financial data in monthly meetings with the Engineering management team. Develop supporting financial and statistical data for the Engineering management teams.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, and/or Economics
  • 5-7 years’ experience working in an accounting and/or finance field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles; knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning systems like Oracle and SAP.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, coordinate and review the work related to budget preparation, capital planning and administrative projects.]
  • Demonstrated skills using PC-based applications (MS Office Suite), web-based collaboration tools, and familiarity of financial and business systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of organizational systems and techniques of analysis. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working toward of have professional certifications – CPA, CMA, CFA
  • Working toward or have Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in working with performance measurement systems preferred. Knowledge/experience with use of KPI’s.

Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
