The Sr. Director, Financial Systems reports to the Company's Controller and is responsible for establishing and maintaining the governance strategy for how financial data is structured and maintained in Amtrak’s financial systems.  For all finance technology projects, the individual will coordinate with the Information Technology Dept. and with the project team responsible for delivery of new financial systems to ensure that the financial data structure is properly designed and implemented. In addition, the Sr. Director will provide oversight to the team responsible for maintaining and assigning new financial data structure elements, including general ledger accounts, work-breakdown-structure elements (WBSEs), internal orders (IOs) and cost centers.  

•    Lead the development and implementation of company-wide policies and procedures for requesting new general ledger accounts, WBSEs, IOs and cost centers
•    Provide oversight to the team responsible for ensuring approved new general ledger accounts, WBSEs, IOs and cost centers are consistent with that strategy
•    Continually review the current financial data element structure to ensure Amtrak follows best practices, has the most efficient and effective financial data structure possible, and provides proper governance and oversight to the use of financial data throughout the company
•    Identify business process improvements that can improve reporting and use of financial data
•    Ensure financial systems achieve their defined goals for reporting of financial data

•    13 years’ experience in the management, development and support of financial systems
•    Fully knowledgeable of financial data element structures
•    Expertise in implementing large-scale, complex financial systems or system upgrades
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Management Information Systems
•    Experience leading and developing a staff with proven ability to motivate others
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization
•    Experience in leading change to increase efficiency by the implementation of technology
•    Demonstrated skills using Excel, Word and Powerpoint
•    Able to break down complex technical matters into easily understood concepts
•    Ability to travel (generally day trips) 10-15%

•    Certified Public Accountant
•    MBA or other related Master’s Degree
•    Proven ability to drive change 
•    Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
•    Previous experience with SAP
