The Intern will be dedicated to the Crew Management Services department, providing an entry point for students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Management or Transportation. The accepted candidate for the position will have the opportunity to apply their academic background in both the office and field, and to gain firsthand work experience in an office that is responsible for the accurate position control of 1800 on-board employees. 



  • Gain experience with all processes related to supporting the Crew Management Operation
  • Assisting with reviewing, recommending, and implementing crew changes necessary for the efficient operation of trains throughout the country
  • Attend office meetings, field meetings and conference calls
  • Gain an understanding of the budgetary operational costs associated with operational changes
  • Examine national train schedules, holiday schedules, track work schedule changes and service disruption changes to help ensure sufficient staffing levels



  • Must be actively pursing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week between the days/hours of Monday – Friday, 8am –   5pm.



  • Specific interest or desire to work in the railroad industry
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with some weekend hours
  • Pursuing a transportation focused degree
  • Must be highly organized and have the ability to work productively, be detailed oriented, maintain high level of confidentiality and work with tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to lift to 50lbs unassisted


Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
